Sheriff Michael Cavins brings two decades of law enforcement experience to the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Cavins is a graduate of the Walters State Police Academy and earned a bachelor’s degree from Lincoln Memorial University.

In 2026, Michael Cavins was elected Sheriff of Claiborne County and took office on September 1, 2026.

As Sheriff, he is focused on setting high standards, strengthening accountability, supporting the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office, improving community relations, and continuing to move the office forward in service to the people of Claiborne County.
